The issue of the place of artists within the city is often addressed from the point of view of the implantation or the localisation of artistic activities. Usually, it is about guaranteeing or claiming a space in the city and remaining visible as a collective in said space. Yet, the game of artistic visibility mobilises other logics – namely inscription and convocation. Inscription: the moment of the artist irrupting within the public space to reveal its latent significations, its hidden normativity as well as drawing new uses with it. Convocation, on the other hand: the punctual briefs commissioned by public collectives or other clients to artists in order to mark the space, to impose the collective to the citizens [read].
