“1 Km Well-being”

Because of the imperatives of reducing energy consumption and greenhouse gas emissions, the increase in proximity-led urban practices has become a priority of urban and territorial politics. It seems fundamental to draw conclusions on the qualities of open space in parts of the cities which are now peripheral, but likely to become densified, to help identify pertinent planning approaches. The research 1 KM well being, carried in collaboration with the ETHZ, experiments with a graphical method of transcribing the qualities of the urban landscape from 1 Km x 1 Km samples. What is at stake here is how to articulate highly selective modalities of survey and rendering, which combine a technical disciplinary approach with a sensible and bodily experience of the physical reality.
